Craig B. Shaffer was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He was first appointed to this position in 2001 and was reappointed in 2009.[1][2][3] Judge Shaffer passed away on December 1, 2018.[4]

Education

Judge Shaffer was born on 1954. He earned his J.D. from Tulane University in 1979. He then served in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps until 1983.[3] He has also served as the Senior Commissioner of the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Military Review.[1]

Career

Judge Shaffer began his career in Naples, Italy, working for the Navy Legal Services Office. After serving in the Navy, he worked for the United States Department of Justice (from 1983 to 1991) in the Civil Rights Division and then in the Environment and Natural Resources Division. Prior to becoming a judge, he worked as a lawyer for the firms Dufford & Brown, P.C. (1991-1999) and Moye, Giles, O'Keefe, Vermeire & Gorrell, LLP (2000-2001).[1][3]
