Craig Sorrell Pittman
Craig Sorrell Pittman was a judge on the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals from 2001 to 2019. He was first elected to the court in November 2000. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2012. He did not file for re-election in 2018.
Education
Judge Pittman received his B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont in 1978. He earned his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1981.[1]
Career
Pittman clerked for Judge Virgil Pittman in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama from 1981-1983. He practiced law in Mobile with the law firm of Hamilton, Butler, Riddick, Tarlton and Sullivan from 1983-1986, and in 1986, started the law firm which became Pittman, Pittman, Carwie and Fuquay.
Pittman served as deputy attorney general during the Jeff Sessions and Bill Pryor administrations. He was general counsel for the Alabama State Docks during the Fob James administration.[1]

In his 2006 race for re-election to the court, Pittman ran against Democratic candidate Kimberly Drake. Pittman won 608,180 votes versus 543,644 votes for Drake.[4]
