Born to Cuban immigrants, I have dedicated myself to becoming a skilled litigator who serves the community with my legal expertise, with nearly 13 years of experience handling cases in various areas of law.

I have represented thousands of clients in areas such as general civil practice,(including but not limited to, complex civil litigation, foreclosure defense, commercial evictions and residential evictions, corporate disputes, contract disputes, insurance claims, personal injury, appeals, federal trademark disputes, federal disabilities act violations defense, federal fair labors standard act claims defense and others), and family law, (including dissolutions of marriage, paternity actions, step parent adoptions, child support, modifications of parenting plans, modifications of child support, federal Hague matters, jurisdictional family disputes including child abductions, domestic violence, sexual abuse domestic violence petitions, stalking petitions, risk protection orders).

A proud product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Florida International University (FIU) . I am an active member of our community volunteering my time and knowledge in many Pro-Bono matters.

With a compassionate and conscientious approach, I aim to improve the public’s experience in Court and ensure that every person receives a prompt fair day in Court from a Judge who is prepared, respectful and understanding; and most importantly will follow the law.
  • Voters should know that I have significant experience in a broad area of law that will enable me to quickly ensue the prompt administration of justice. Having experience in various areas of law allows a judge to quickly adopt norms and implement policies conducive to speeding up the process and allows for fewer mistakes when applying the law.
  • Voters should know that my work ethic is second to none and if elected, I shall work tirelessly to ensure that everyone gets their day in Court as soon as reasonably possible. Justice delayed is justice Denied.
  • Voters should know that as a lawyer presently handling primarily family law matters, good people at their worst fighting about the most important things to them, I have the temperament, respect and understanding to treat the public, fairly and with the utmost respect.
I am passionate about the law, and family law in particular. I am also very particularly passionate about the concept of justice, and both substantive and procedural due process. I believe in order to be a great judge must care about the law and these principles.
I look up to my late father who is and always will be my hero. He worked hard, starting his own business, always provided for us, and always found time to spend with us. I feel his loss still today and strive to do the same for by three boys.
Judges are not permitted to share their political philosophy, and must at all times strive to remain impartial and make unbiased decisions.
Transparency, impartiality, fairness, and accountability.
I am patient, understanding, and diligent in all that I do. I commonly tell my kids that if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.
The core responsibilities of a judge are to apply the law as written, safe guard the public’s right to access to the Court, and ensure both substantive and procedural due process and as alway remain impartial. Judges must also be prepared, and diligent in understanding the cases brought before them, and ensuring that their understanding of the law is current so that justice may be properly provided.
I would love to be remembered like I remember many of the jurist that have graced our Court; as a great, kind, and fair judge that always did his best and the community was better for it.
My first job was as a book keeper for my grandfather's tax preparation business which I had for about three years.
Pigs Might Fly. I like the book because it's a tale of overcoming adversity, seeing the beauty in one's uniqueness.
"The Hippo Song" by Oscar Isaac performed on The Tonight Show.
Despite loss of many of close family members, like my dad, and grandparents, I can’t say that I have struggled any more than any other person. Life sometimes gives you lemons and I have always striven to make lemonade.
There are too many powers and responsibilities held by judges and which the public should be aware of, than can be adequately expressed in the word limit provided for herein. I would encourage any person seeking to truly understand the nature and responsibility of a judge to research the matter for themselves. These powers and responsibilities vary depending on the area of law and each is unique, often with unique rules and case law.
Judges are not permitted to campaign on a particular legal philosophy and must at all times be neutral and impartial.
I admire a great many judges which I have had the distinct pleasure of appearing before. Miami-Dade has some of the finest men and women serving as our judges and it would be a great disservice to them for me to pick a favorite. All of those whom I have had the pleasure of appearing before, have been kind, prepared, knowledgeable, and always impartial. It really does make me proud to be a practicing attorney in our circuit.
I have always wanted to be a judge, from the first moment I ever appeared in Court. I believe it is an essential function of democracy to ensure that our laws are faithfully followed and justice is administered. Naturally, having been before so many fine jurists, and understanding that the only way to serve as a judge would be to run against one of these sitting judges, I elected to wait until one of our wonderful judges chose to retire. When I heard that Judge Echarte was retiring I was eager to cease the opportunity and decided to run. My career as an attorney has been a never-ending quest to become as knowledgeable as I could in as many areas of law as possible in order to become worthy of serving our community and filling the large shoes left behind when one of these legal giants parted ways. In short it has always been my dream.
The primary concern facing the legal system today is the backlog of cases presently pending and delay in bringing them to conclusion.
Technology, such as zoom and the virtual courtrooms presently being used. Technology provides the legal profession with a new horizon of possibilities in the areas of access, transparency, accounability and speed for which decisions and matters can be resolved.
I would love to sit on the Court of appeals, however, feel like everything in life, things must occur in order. A great appeallate judge should first be a great trial court judge.
A man sued an airline company after it lost his luggage.
Sadly, he lost his case.
Judges like all elected officials must be transparent in deed, and are always accountable to the public which they serve.
