Crystal has dedicated her life to advocating for and empowering the diverse communities of District 61, and she is committed to creating effective solutions that address our shared needs and aspirations.

Growing up in the community that she continues to call home has provided her with a profound understanding of the evolving needs within our district as it has expanded and transformed over the years. She respects the rich history of Greensboro, steeped in promise and hope. Now is the time, she believes, for our community to come together and cultivate a culture that guarantees every individual in this district the opportunity and resources they need to flourish, rooted in the promise and hope of our history.

Instilled with the values of hard work, dedication, and commitment from a young age, she observed her grandmother, Katherine McGibbony, collaborate with City Councilmembers, Senators, and former Mayors of Greensboro. She has continued the work of her loved ones, dedicating over 20 years of hands-on experience in community engagement and service.
  • Fiscally, I hold the principle that governments should not spend beyond their means. This includes opposing deficit spending and "slush funds," ensuring every dollar is allocated responsibly for the benefit of our citizens. North Carolina and Greensboro are competing in a global economy, and she believes we must create the environment for a growing economy. This can be achieved by keeping taxes low to support every business from the small, local business owners to the large corporations looking to call our area home.
  • She champions individual empowerment, the foundation for a strong society. This translates to advocating for a limited, accountable government that serves, not burdens. Recognizing the power of faith-based institutions with successful rehabilitation programs, she seeks collaboration to maximize resources for those in need.
  • I wholeheartedly support both the U.S. and North Carolina Constitutions, documents that enshrine the fundamental rights that have made our nation a beacon of liberty. The 2nd Amendment's guarantee of the right to bear arms is a cornerstone of our national identity, ensuring the safety and self-defence of our citizens. These rights, along with the freedom of speech protected by the 1st Amendment, are essential for a healthy democracy. Open discourse and the ability to defend oneself are vital for a society where individuals can thrive and contribute freely. The North Carolina Constitution further strengthens these principles, ensuring a strong and responsive state government that serves its citizens.
By upholding the blessings of liberties secured in both the US and NC Constitutions, empowering families, investing in quality education, fostering economic opportunity, and nurturing the drive to create and innovate, we can build a brighter future for all!
Since I was young, I've been deeply inspired by the legacy of my grandmother, Katherine McGibbony. Witnessing her dedication and tireless work ethic left an indelible mark on me. She wasn't just someone who believed in hard work, she lived it. But her impact went far beyond that. Katherine McGibbony was a force for positive change in our community. I remember watching her collaborate with City Councilmembers, Senators, and even former Mayors of Greensboro. She wasn't afraid to reach across the aisle and build bridges to get things done. Her commitment to public service and her belief in the power of collaboration are values I carry with me to this day, and they're the very foundation of my own dedication to serving our community.
Elected officials act as stewards of our trust. Integrity and ethics are paramount – they should be champions for the public good, not special interests. Deep knowledge and strong work ethic ensure informed decisions. But leadership goes beyond that. They must be clear communicators, able to explain complex issues and inspire action. Collaboration and the ability to build consensus are crucial. They navigate diverse viewpoints, finding common ground and forging solutions. Ultimately, they are accountable public servants. They listen to constituents' concerns, are accessible, and answer for their actions. In these ways, they become effective representatives, working to build a brighter future for all.
Representation: Acting as the voice of their constituents, understanding their needs and concerns, and advocating for their interests in the legislative process.

Lawmaking: Participating in the creation and passage of laws that address the needs of the community or state, while upholding the Constitution.
Oversight: Holding government agencies and programs accountable for their performance and ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively.
Constituent Service: Responding to the concerns and problems faced by individual constituents, offering assistance and advocating for solutions where needed.
Budgeting: Helping to allocate resources effectively and responsibly, ensuring government spending aligns with the needs of the people.

Community Building: Working to foster a sense of community, promoting unity and collaboration among diverse groups, and representing the community in a positive light.
Here's an analogy: Imagine the governor and the legislature as a rowing team. They need to work together in rhythm and coordination to move the boat forward (the state) effectively. However, each member also needs some independence to exert their power and maintain stability.

Achieving this ideal relationship isn't always easy. Political differences and external pressures can all create friction. However, by focusing on communication, collaboration, and mutual respect, a governor and legislature can work together to create a more prosperous state for all.
Greensboro's legacy as a manufacturing and logistics hub is crucial to North Carolina's economic strength. However, to remain competitive in a globalized world, the city and state need to make strategic investments in infrastructure and workforce development.

This dual approach tackles two critical challenges simultaneously. Firstly, aging roads, bridges, and public transportation systems in Greensboro create bottlenecks that hinder the efficient movement of goods and people. Upgrading these systems benefits not just the city, but also the state's overall economic well-being. Secondly, investing in workforce development programs ensures a skilled and adaptable workforce that can meet the evolving needs of Greensboro's manufacturing and logistics industries. This not only benefits the city by attracting and retaining businesses, but also strengthens North Carolina's position as a hub for innovation and economic growth.

By working together, Greensboro and North Carolina can ensure a thriving business environment that positions the city for continued success in the coming decade.
