I'm a mother, mental healthcare professional, and advocate for women and families. I grew up in Hilliard and graduated from Hilliard Davidson High School. I got my Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University. Having lost my brother to suicide, I decided to become a qualified mental health specialist at North Central Mental Health where I helped children with severe mental illness connect with treatment and resources. When my son Noble was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, I became a "case manager" from my own living room. I went to DC to fight alongside Senator Sherrod Brown and save the Children's Health Insurance Program for hundreds of thousands of Ohio families. I've been an advocate for Protect Our Care, Save the Children Action Network, Paid Leave for the United States, and Ignite Our City. As an advocate for paid family leave, equal pay, and universal preschool, I've worked with representatives on both sides of the aisle to advance good policy. Now I'm running for the Ohio Senate to fight for affordable healthcare, fully-funded public schools, and common-sense gun safety legislation. As your State Senator, I will work to create an Ohio where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
  • Ohio families need access to quality, affordable healthcare. We need to ensure that no child goes without care and no family is plunged into financial ruin due to a medical bill.
  • It's time to make our public education system a priority. I will support fully-funded public schools with the resources to teach children in a safe, healthy, and constructive environment.
  • Our children should be able to live without a fear of gun violence. I have a comprehensive common-sense gun safety platform that will reduce firearm fatalities and hold gun owners accountable.
Access to mental health care is extremely close to my heart. Growing up, my brother suffered from severe bipolar disorder. I saw first-hand how the stigma of mental illness affected my family, my brother, and his treatment. Despite my family's efforts to help my brother, I lost him to suicide just after leaving college. It was undoubtedly one of the most difficult and challenging moments of my life. I decided to become a qualified mental health specialist to help other children who suffer from mental illness. I began my career at North Central Mental Health where I served as a case manager for underprivileged youth with severe and symptomatic mental health disorders. I worked with these young people to connect them to housing, food sources, medical assistance, therapy, and other basic necessities. While I knew I could make a difference, the resources available were incredibly inadequate. There aren't enough hospital beds or shelters. There aren't enough food banks or food stamps. There were nowhere near enough mental health professionals and therapists. It became clear that we must do better to provide for the most vulnerable people in our community. I'll fight to increase funding for community mental health centers, reduce the use of prisons as mental health facilities, and work to end the stigma surrounding mental illness.
My first job was working at a childcare center in a local gym. I held the job for three years in high school. In that position, I worked with kids on health and wellness goals, ran summer camps revolving around playing outside and introducing kids to organized sports.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Ohio

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Ohio scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
