Cullen Werwie was the Communications Director for the Wisconsin Department of Administration under Governor Scott Walker (R), before leaving for the private sector in 2015. Prior to holding this position, he was Walker’s spokesperson, beginning when he took office as Governor until 2013. He also held positions in the Wisconsin State Assembly and Wisconsin State Senate. Werwie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[1][2]
John Doe investigations
Two John Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov. Scott Walker (R).[3] Werwie was one of the individuals granted immunity in the John Doe investigations related to Scott Walker. During the 2010 gubernatorial campaign, he worked on Walker’s campaign and on Brett Davis’s campaign for lieutenant governor. Kelly Rindfleisch pled guilty to charges related to working on the Davis campaign while working in the Milwaukee County Executive’s office under Walker.[2]
