|- Experience -- My experience in Gwinnett County has uniquely qualified me to serve as Sheriff during this critical time in Gwinnett’s law enforcement community. I was raised by my mother and father in military bases around the world, as my father’s duty stations required – and served under rigorous conditions in the U.S. Marine Corps. I uniquely understand the core values of freedom, honor and service to my country – and to the global community we are all connected to in the United States. I uniquely understand injustice and the tragedies from loss of life/trauma from crime – while doing my part to make my country, my state, and my county stronger in the unfolding of democracy in America.
- Integrity -- I uphold the integrity of protecting, defending, and serving all of the vastly diverse residents in Gwinnett County – the most diverse county in the southeast region of the United States, as we experience an expansion of diversity in the global economic development of Georgia. I highly value the integrity of diverse contributions and cultures while maintaining the integrity of upholding the laws of our state and county with honor, courage, and equity.
- Professional Leadership -- Leadership in law enforcement is a critical reference point for my public service in Gwinnett. I am committed to increasing and expanding leadership within the Office of the Sheriff and I am setting a personal example by highlighting this issue and committing to run for Gwinnett Sheriff. My personal motto comes from Gen. Colin Powell: “Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems, is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help, or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.”
