Curtis lives in Brookville with his wife, Catrina Bentley Ward, and his three children, Maddox, Sofia, & Mila. Curtis is a lifelong resident of Franklin County and Catrina was born in Fayette County. The two met after high school and have been married for twelve years. Both are active in their community and own/operate several businesses. These include a real estate firm, residential remodel company, and new home construction company.

Curtis is deeply rooted in his service to his community. He was elected to Brookville Town Council in 2016 and currently serves as President. He previously served as a member of the County Area Planning Commission and as a member of the County Tourism Board.

In 2006, Curtis was the recipient of the Lilly Scholarship and attended the Univ. of Indianapolis. Here he received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He intends to use his experience and education to improve the quality of place and life in rural Indiana by emphasizing and promoting regional cooperation to solve common issues across all areas of District 55.

Curtis has a passion for investing in youth through services and eduction. For over 11 years, he served as both a volunteer and full time staff member of College Mentors for Kids, a national non-profit that provides mentoring to at risk youth. Curtis will use his passion for children to support legislation that improves the educational opportunities for our youth while supporting our educators.
  • Curtis believes in local decision-making and less state/federal government involvement. If elected, he pledges to invest his energy into legislation that promotes creating more private jobs, protects family farms, increases access to broadband, invests in our youth and education, and protects and supports pro-life and pro second amendment issues. I am running for State Representative on the simple promise to Move Rural Indiana Forward to make our area the best place to live and work. As a lifelong resident of our district, I have plans to author bills that best serve our needs and increase the quality of life.
  • Hoosiers are rightfully concerned with excessive government control and overreach, especially post Covid. We suffered a loss of individual freedoms during that time. Churches were forced to close, we were forced to stay in our homes, and were given titles as essential and non-essential. I will support legislation that supports individual freedom and liberties. I never want another church or small business owner who has invested their hard earned money to live the American Dream to have to shutter their doors due to another governmental overreach.
  • I firmly believe that ever person has a duty, an obligation to leave their community a better place than they inherited it. I also believe the local units of government are best suited to solve local issues and the state government should give those units of government tools and resources to be successful. I’m the only candidate who has served in an elected office and worked at the “bottom level” This is extremely important when passing legislation that will directly impact your local leaders.
I am passionate about education. I invested over a decade of my life in a non-profit field that supported educators efforts within the school corporation. I believe kids are the future of our country, and we need to do all we can to make sure it is a bright future. Supporting education means supporting educators as well, especially rural educators.

I am also concerned about maintaining a strong sense of conservative values in our area and supporting Pro-life and Pro-second amendment initiatives. We need to be resolved in our core beliefs systems and fight against those who would seek to change that.

I'm mostly passionate about making our area and our state the best place to live in work. With core values in tact, we can create an area where our children do not have to leave home for quality private jobs, affordable housing, and recreational opportunities in rural locations.
More than anyone, I look up to my dad as an example. Despite anything that has ever been thrown at him (losing two wives to cancer, raising four kids sometimes on his own, heart attacks, recession, etc...), he has never wavered in his principals or his resolve. My father taught us the value of hard work and determination. He taught us the importance of honoring your word and still works with his clients on a hand shake agreement. He's devoted hours and hours each week into his church and community and does so with a giving heart.

These are the exact principals I lead by. I work hard and am determined to make our area the best place to live and work. I will fight for Hoosiers with honesty and integrity and will devote my time into making our community grow together.
9-11 was not the first historical event that I remember, but it was one of the most impactful. My mom and I were driving back from a doctors appointment when the news came across the radio. I remember returning to class that afternoon and every TV was playing the devastating news in every class room. A nation mourned as we became victims of a terrorism attack on our soil. I will never forget that day, nor should any of us.
My very first job was a construction laborer alongside my date dating far back into my youth. My father was/is a small business owner who built and remodeled homes throughout the southeastern part of Indiana. All of my siblings grew up working nights and weekends and summers full time. I continued to work in construction throughout high school and college.

After graduating college, my first job was at College Mentors for Kids, Inc. I worked downtown Indianapolis and commuted every date from Brookville, IN for nearly seven years. I did this because I believed in the work we were doing at College Mentors and because I valued life in a small, rural community. I can relate to my friends and neighbors who choose to live in a rural setting while commuting nearly an hour or more to work each day.

We must do more to promote quality jobs closer to home and give our people more opportunities.
