Custer County attorney appointed to fill 8th Judicial District vacancy

BROKEN BOW, Nebraska: Attorney Tami K. Schendt is now the newest judge for Nebraska's 8th Judicial District. On August 28, 2012, Governor Dave Heineman announced that would appoint Schendt to the 8th District. Schendt will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Gary Washburn.[1]
Before her appointment to the 8th District Schendt worked as a Custer County Attorney and also in Broken Bow as the Deputy County Attorney. She holds a major in criminal justice and a minor in speech communication from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Lincoln. She earned her J.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law in 1993.[2]
She will begin her duties as judge in the beginning of September 2012.[1]
