I am a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word and earned a bachelor's degree in business and a paralegal specialty degree. I bring 22 years of legal and business experience with a concentration in civil litigation, and I currently serve as a Senior Litigation Manager for a Fortune 100 company specializing in insurance and financial services. I’ve attended numerous trials involving complex cases in Texas and throughout the United States. I have extensive experience analyzing and evaluating legal issues, conducting root cause analysis, and executing plans to mitigate risk. My professional background also includes strong experience in criminal and civil procedures, compliance, leading teams, and managing confidential, proprietary, and sensitive documents while ensuring that legal standards are met every single day. I also have extensive file management experience at the county, state, and federal levels. My education and successful business and legal career are accomplishments I value deeply and am grateful for. I am the proud daughter of a Purple Heart Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran who taught me the values of service, discipline, integrity and perseverance. My mother, who taught me to lead with love and that honesty is the foundation of trust, is from Mexico, and through her I became fluent in Spanish. I am proud of my Latina heritage which has greatly shaped who I am both personally and professionally. I am a wife and mother of 3 beautiful children.
  • I bring hands-on experience with court processes, trials, researching records, and comprehensive file management. My profession requires strict adherence to procedural requirements and confidentiality standards. I have experience with document processing procedures including court documents, assumed name filings, and public records while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and security of records. My legal background also includes extensive experience of e-filing court documents at all levels of the court systems. This background equips me to manage the clerk's office with efficiency and a strong focus on service to the public.
  • I would approach the role of County Clerk with a service-driven leadership style grounded in my extensive legal, risk management and operational experience. Having worked closely with court processes/public records, I understand the importance of accuracy, compliance, timeliness in every function of the office. As a present/accessible leader, I would prioritize ongoing training and development for staff, ensuring employees are well versed in court procedures, maintaining public records and electronic filing systems. My background managing complex legal workflows and confidential information allows me to establish clear processes, accountability and consistencies; while supporting employees to serve the public efficiently and confidently.
  • Throughout my career, I have developed the experience to identify operational gaps, leadership deficiencies, and opportunities to modernize processes/technology. For several years, many counties across Texas have provided transparency/accessibility to public records. Yet the County Clerk’s Office is behind in offering the same level of accessibility. Our community deserves a Clerk's Office that is modern, efficient, and responsive. Equally important is a present/engaged leader. When current leadership practices include attending outside events unrelated to core office responsibilities, it creates disadvantages and increases risks, such as the breach of sensitive records we've experienced on several occasions since 2020.
I am deeply passionate about equality and dignity in public service. I believe government should treat every person with fairness, respect, and compassion - without labels, assumptions or divisions. My approach to public policy is rooted in the belief that we are all part of the same community, and when we lead with empathy and love, we create systems that work better for everyone. Public service, at its core, is about people, and my commitment is to serve every individual with the same level of care, love, access and respect. We are all equal.

Campaign website

Castro's campaign website stated the following:

El Liderazgo y la Experiencia Importan.

Leadership and Experience Matter.

True leadership means investing in staff training and development, fostering a culture of collaboration, identifying risks early, knowing when to pivot and adapt to changes, being prepared and accountable, and leading from the front - not from behind the scenes.

My profession requires strict adherence to procedural requirements and confidentiality standards. I have experience with document processing procedures including court documents, assumed name filings, and public records while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and security of records. This background equips me to manage the clerk's office with efficiency and a strong focus on service to the public.

I humbly ask for your vote. I would be honored to serve as your County Clerk, bringing my education, experience and values to provide the leadership Bexar County deserves.
