Cynthia Cohen
Cynthia J. Cohen was an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. She was appointed to this court by Republican Governor Paul Cellucci and took the oath of office on March 8, 2001.[1] She retired from the court on December 31, 2016.[2]
Education
Cohen graduated from Brown University in 1969 with an undergraduate degree. She earned her master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1972 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1975.[1]
Career
Cohen began her legal career as an associate and later a partner of the law firm Parker, Coulter, Daley & White in Boston. She left to co-found the firm of Meehan, Boyle & Cohen, P.C. in 1985. Cohen's practice focused on tort, insurance, and appellate matters. She was with this firm until her appointment to the Massachusetts Appeals Court. She has also taught appellate practice as an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University Law School.[1]
