Cynthia Kallgren
Cynthia Kallgren was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 12th Congressional District of Michigan. Previously, she was a Republican candidate for District 13 in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 2010 state legislative elections.
Biography
Kallgren was born in Wyandotte, Michigan. She attended Southgate Highschool and graduated in 1978. From there, she earned a B.A. in Social Science at Eastern Michigan University. She has been married for 30 years and has raised four children. She is a former teacher and a small business owner who regularly contributes to a struggling private school in Detriot.[1]

2012
Kallgren was defeated incumbent John D. Dingell, Jr.[2] Kallgren ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 12th District. She defeated Karen E. Jacobsen in the August 7 Republican primary. She faced Democratic incumbent John D. Dingell, Jr. and Richard Secula (L) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]

Excerpt: "As a mom and a business owner I have had to live within means always spending less than I take in. I expect and will demand the federal government to do the same."[6]

Excerpt: "Cynthia Kallgren has and will continue to support Traditional Family Values. As the only candidate endorsed by Michigan Right to Life, Cynthia has proven her support for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. Cynthia also supports traditional marriage."[8]
2010
Kallgren lost to Democratic incumbent Andrew James Kandrevas in the November 2 general election. Andrew James Kandrevas defeated Kallgren and Church with 14,338 votes; Kallgren received 12,130 votes and Church received 755 votes.
She defeated Bradford Glass, Matthew Schafer and Julius Vida, Jr. in the August 3 Republican primary.
