Cynthia Nava (b. June 23, 1952) is a former Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate, representing District 31 from 1993 to 2013.

Biography

Nava earned her B.S. from Western Illinois University and her M.A. from Eastern Illinois University. Her professional experience includes working as Director of Special Education at Gadsden Public Schools and has also been Deputy Superintendent of Gadsden Independent School District.[1]

In June 2011, Governing Magazine named Nava one of 12 "Democratic Legislators to Watch." Each of the legislators was selected on the basis of qualities such as leadership, ambition and political potential.[2]
