Cynthia Van Auken was a candidate seeking an at-large seat on the Chico Unified School District Board of Education in California. She ran against two incumbents and one fellow candidate in the general election on November 4, 2014.

Though Van Auken tried to remove herself as a candidate from this race, Butte County election officials did not have time to take her name off the ballot. Because her name was still on the ballot, she was still considered a candidate.[1][2] Cynthia Van Auken lost the general election on November 4, 2014.
