D. Kelly Thomas
D. Kelly Thomas was a judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Eastern Section. He assumed office in 2006. He left office on June 30, 2022.
Thomas was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen in November 2006.[1] [2] He was retained in 2014.[3][4] Thomas retired on June 30, 2022.[5]
Education
Thomas received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in 1974 and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1977.[6]

Thomas was retained to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals with 64.9 percent of the vote on August 7, 2014. [4][7]
Retention recommendation
Judge Thomas was recommended for retention to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals by the Tennessee Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission.[8][9]
