Marcus Ranger was a 2015 candidate for District 4 of the Dallas, Texas City Council.

In 2014, Ranger was a candidate for the District 6 seat on the Dallas Board of Trustees in Texas. He lost election against fellow challengers Lew Blackburn, Jr., Bertha Bailey Whatley, Joyce Foreman and Carlos Sherman in the general election on May 10, 2014. Ranger ran for the seat held by his wife Carla, who did not file for re-election. District 6 covers schools in southwestern Dallas.[1] Ranger was appointed on June 19, 2014, to the 15-member commission developing a home-rule charter for the district.

Ranger is an attorney practicing in the Dallas area. He and his wife, Carla, have one child who graduated from district schools.[1][2]

The city of Dallas, Texas, held elections for mayor and city council on May 9, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 27, 2015. Early voting began on April 27, 2015.

All 14 city council seats were up for election.[3][4] In District 4, Carolyn King Arnold defeated Sandra Crenshaw, Carl Hays, Stephen King, D. Marcus Ranger, James Ross, Keyaira D. Saunders and Linda M. Wilkerson-Wynn.[5] Incumbent Dwaine Caraway did not run for re-election.[6]
