D. Neil Harris is a judge for the 16th Chancery District of Mississippi.[1] He was re-elected to the court in 2010 and 2014. His current term expires on December 31, 2020.[2][3][4]

Harris was re-elected to the Mississippi Chancery Court after running unopposed.[2]

Education
Harris earned a B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Mississippi. He was admitted to the bar in 1982.[6]
Career
Prior to joining the bench, Harris practiced law with his son, David N. Harris.[7]
Noteworthy events
On December 5, 2013, Judge Harris was cited for judicial misconduct by the Mississippi Supreme Court. The court found that Harris "failed to recuse himself from contempt proceedings, and prevented those he charged with contempt from presenting any defense." He was publicly reprimanded and fined $2,500.[8] The court said Harris violated the defendants' due process rights and failed to issue summonses for their contempt proceedings.[9]
