Biography
Dacia Grayber was born in New York. Grayber studied at Columbia University and received a bachelor's degree from Concordia University in 2019. Her career experience includes working as a firefighter and paramedic.[1][2]

I was 10 years old when I decided I wanted to be a firefighter. It wasn’t a common career path for women back then. I never backed down, instead pursuing my dream with the same passion and hard work I apply to everything I do.
Every time the alarms go off and I race to the engine, I carry with me the reminder of what’s possible when we don’t take NO for an answer, instead pushing to redefine what is possible.
Much of what I have witnessed, and at times even experienced in my job has informed and directed my work – as a firefighter, as a member of my community, and now as a State Representative.
I have had the privilege to be part of ground-breaking forward-thinking change and through it all, I’ve seen how effective one brave voice can be in Salem.
You have trusted me with the honor to carry our collective voice to Salem. In my first two terms I have been at the forefront of crafting, advocating for, and passing groundbreaking legislation that betters our communities and creates a safer, healthier, more resilient Oregon. I'd be honored to earn your vote and continue my service.- We must work relentlessly to elevate the lives of working families. I will fight for policies that establish a livable wage, improve quality of life, and lower the cost of living for workers and working families all across Oregon.
As corporate profits continue to skyrocket, we must expand high-road labor standards that will ensure a fair economy working for all.
With new industries setting up shop all across the state, I will fight to ensure that Oregon’s local workforce is prioritized for hiring through local apprenticeships, and protect against harm through rigorous compliance with Oregon’s workplace safety standards.
Equal opportunity employment protections are critical as Oregon’s workforce becomes increasingly diverse. - Let's protect Oregon’s future through climate resilience Oregon is vulnerable to the immediate impacts of climate change, and is feeling its effects in heat domes, wildfires, and volatile winters. I will continue to lead the way on infrastructure investments that will make us more climate resilient and carbon neutral. We are one of the only states to have never experienced its worst potential natural disaster. A Cascadia-level event will cause thousands of deaths and trillions in damage, and I commit to continue bolstering our disaster resilience. Addressing our housing crisis should not come at the expense of our environment. To make us truly climate resilient we need to prioritize infilling around around service centers, etc.
- Let's heal our communities suffering from addiction AND commit to a transparent and accountable government. The impacts of Oregon’s addiction crisis are far-reaching, and our systems of care remain inadequate. Constituents of HD-28 have been clear: we don’t mind paying taxes to improve our community, so long as we see real, tangible results. I am prioritizing a renewed standard of excellence in implementation, accountability, and transparency from all levels of government. I will hold our criminal justice system accountable for ensuring that recent re-criminalization laws do not disproportionately impact marginalized communities and communities of color.
I have specifically advocated and developed innovative apprenticeship programs and look to build on those successes as well.

As a firefighter, I've spent my life serving my community, called to help in people's most vulnerable moments. One emergency at a time, I work tirelessly to make things better. As a mom and an advocate, I have worked to strengthen health and safety of our communities. Now, I ask for the privilege of serving local families in Salem, redefining what's possible for our community. We have our best days ahead of us.
- We can redefine affordability with a fair economy: meaningful revenue reform that creates an equitable playing field - a fairer tax code that works for people and small businesses, not corporations. We also need equitable access for everyone to high-quality healthcare and affordable medications.
- Let's redefine our future through stronger schools: Address the skyrocketing cost of higher education and make institutions of higher education more transparent and accountable. We must also ensure stable and equitable implementation of the Student Success Act, and putting planning in place to ensure stable school funding in the future.
- Now is the time to redefine our environmental impact with transparency and fiscal responsibility: Invest in forward-thinking infrastructure projects that meaningfully address climate change, and utilize tools like project labor agreements and community benefit agreements that put money back into our community. Clean air, green spaces, and clean water are human rights.
