Recall supporters

Clark Merrill served as the chairman of the recall committee.[1]

Recall opponents

Gordon argued that the recall process was invalid because it violated the 14th Amendment by depriving him of a property right in the form of his public office without due process. In Gordon v. Leatherman, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit held that, "In a political system permitting recall at will, there is simply no requirement of due process that an elected official be given notice of the electorate's reasons for seeking his recall."[1]
