Facts and figures about congressional candidates in 2018

At the halfway point of 2018, 2,615 candidates have filed for election or informed Ballotpedia and other outlets about their candidacy for a congressional seat.

Of those, 2,295 are seeking election to U.S. House seats, and 320 are seeking election to the U.S. Senate.



2018 features more open congressional seats and contested primaries than in the previous two election cycles.
