Noteworthy events

Public admonishment (2015)

In September 2015, the California Commission on Judicial Performance publicly admonished Judge Dale Reinholtsen for falsely reporting that cases had been cleared before they really were in order to receive his paycheck. According to California law, judges must decide cases in 90 days after they have been argued. If a judge fails to do so, his or her paycheck is forfeited. Judges have to sign affidavits ensuring that their cases are on track.[5]

The admonishment stated that Reinholtsen "engaged in improper conduct when he signed and submitted false salary affidavits on seven occasions, received his salary for judicial office in violation of law on 13 occasions, failed to act timely on over 20 matters that had been assigned to him, and failed to prepare a case progression plan in a case he exempted from meeting certain disposition time goals."[5]

Reinholtsen's colleague at the Humboldt County Superior Court, Judge Christopher G. Wilson, was publicly admonished on the same charges in January 2016.[6]
