Campaign themes

2016

Amorosia's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

  • I believe in a collaborative approach to supporting Minnesota kids. We need a well-rounded curriculum that will give students the necessary skills to succeed. Students need to have both education and mental health services in order to give them the best chance to learn and thrive in school.
  • To achieve this goal, funding must be available for all of the districts to provide a quality-learning experience. I will work with parents, teachers and school administrators to make sure the tools are available for all to thrive in the classroom.

Economic Opportunities

  • I’m ready to sit down and work with Minnesota’s local business community to create a better working environment. Let’s develop policies together that build a framework for all to benefit and thrive in. We need to focus on pay equity, family leave, business regulations, state taxes and other labor issues.

Healthcare

  • Many of our friends and neighbors get their healthcare through MNsure and MinnesotaCare, which serves Minnesotans that cannot get affordable insurance through their employer and do not qualify for Medical Assistance. I believe both programs serve a purpose and I will put forth policies to fix MNsure and MinnesotaCare so that they both work and are sustainable.

Transportation

  • I want to be the voice for the community that expresses our concerns to city and state planners about the current state of the transportation system. State legislation is needed that provides the funding necessary to maintain and expand our roads, bridges, and public transportation so that they are more accessible to everyone in our region.

Quality of Life

  • Funding must be made available for our first responders, as they must have every resource available to continue their high standard of protecting our community. We need to improve Broadband Internet access in our community. It affects how our kids learn, how we apply for jobs, and how we run our businesses. In this day and age, internet access is a necessity. I will work to improve and expand Broadband Internet access throughout our community.[3]
