Dale Kildee
Dale Edward Kildee (b. September 16, 1929) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Michigan's 5th Congressional District from 1977 to 2013. Kildee decided not to seek re-election in 2012. [1]
Based on an analysis of bill sponsorship by GovTrack, Kildee was a "rank-and-file Democrat."[2]
Kildee died on October 13, 2021.[3]
Biography
Kildee was born in 1929 in Flint, Michigan. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, Kildee went on to earn his B.A. from Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, Michigan, in 1952 and his Teaching Certificate at Detroit University in 1955. He also earned an M.A. from the University of Michigan in 1961. Prior to his political career, Kildee worked as a teacher.[4]

Fiscal Cliff
Kildee voted for the fiscal cliff compromise bill, which made permanent most of the Bush tax cuts originally passed in 2001 and 2003 while also raising tax rates on the highest income levels. He was one of 172 Democrats who voted in favor of the bill. The bill was passed in the House by a 257 - 167 vote on January 1, 2013.[6]

Kildee did not seek re-election in 2012.[7] Dan Kildee (D) defeated Jim Slezak (R), Gregory Creswell (L), and David Davenport (I) in the general election.
2010
On November 2, 2010, Kildee won re-election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated John Kupiec (R), Michael J. Moon (L), and J. Matthew de Heus (G) in the general election.[8]
