Campaign themes

2014

Jones' campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Defend Lincoln’s working families

  • Excerpt: "That’s how I learned the value of hard work and from that experience I’m committed to working hard every day for Lincoln’s working families."

Create new, good-paying jobs

  • Excerpt: "By keeping the tax burden low and making investments in schools and roads, for example, we can keep and add new employers. And that’s also important if we are going to keep more of our young people here in Lincoln."

Ensure quality early childhood, K-12, and college education

  • Excerpt: "Lincoln is a college town and as graduate of UNL, I bleed Husker Red. But there too I want to see tax dollars and tuition dollars spent wisely and with a sense of purpose. The same goes for the very important role played by Southeast Community College."

Provide fiscal accountability and responsible state spending

  • Excerpt: "Lincoln residents work hard to make a living, and ensuring that spending decisions are made carefully will ensure that the tax burden remains low so Lincoln’s residents and all Nebraskans can keep more of what they earn."
