Dan Brown (Missouri)
Dan Brown (b. December 22, 1950) is a former Republican member of the Missouri State Senate, representing District 16 from 2011 to 2019.
Brown was unable to run for re-election in 2018 to the Missouri State Senate because of term limits.
Brown filed to run as a Republican for Treasurer of Missouri in the 2016 elections, but withdrew from the race before the primary election.[1][2]
Brown passed away on May 11, 2021.[3]
Biography
Brown earned his B.S. in agriculture and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During his time in the State Senate, his professional experience included working in veterinary medicine.

Issues
No New Taxes Pledge
A minority of Missouri lawmakers signed the 2011 edition of the "No New Taxes Pledge." The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is offered by the nonprofit lobbying organization Americans for Tax Reform with the goal of opposing all tax increases as a matter of principle. Just one out of 34 state Senate members signed the 2011 pledge. Out of 163 state House members, only 38 lawmakers signed.
Brown signed the pledge.[4]

Brown ran for Missouri Treasurer in the 2016 elections. He withdrew from the race before the primary election on August 2, 2016.[1]
2014

Elections for the Missouri State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, followed by a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Incumbent Dan Brown defeated Bernie Mowinski in the Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election.[6][7]

On November 2, 2010, Brown won election to the Missouri State Senate, defeating Frank Barnitz.

On November 4, 2008, Brown ran for District 149 of the Missouri House of Representatives, beating Wayne Bledsoe and Dennis Hustead.[8]
Brown raised $44,894 for his campaign.[9]

During his time in the State Senate, Brown was married with two children. He had been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, First Christian Church, Mid-Missouri Energy, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Farmers Association, Missouri Republican Party, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, National Rifle Association, Paseo Biofuel, Phelps County Republicans, Quail Forever, and the Rolla Chamber of Commerce.
