Dan Foster (b. January 31, 1948) is a former Democratic member of the West Virginia State Senate, representing District 17 from 2004 to 2012. Foster served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2004.

Foster earned his B.A. in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College in 1970. He went on to receive his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1974. He then received his Surgical Residency from Tulane University Associated Hospitals in 1979.

Foster worked as a surgeon for Charleston Surgical Group, Incorporated from 1979 to 2001. He has worked as a physician/physician administrator for the Charleston Area Medical Center since 2001.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Dan Foster won re-election to the West Virginia State Senate, District 17.[2] Foster raised $67,595 for his campaign, while Alan Eugene Long raised $500.[3]
