Candidate Connection

Dan Harder completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Harder's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1. Improve public safety and mental health services to address the opioid epidemic. 2. Reign in wasteful transit spending and resist new taxes. 3. Expand charter school system and education savings accounts. 4. End corrupt relationships between government agencies and private interests.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Olympia has to many cozy relationships with private political organizations masquerading as public interest groups. Public money should not be used to enrich private organizations, especially those with a political agenda, be it the Washington Education Association, or other unions, or environmental organizations.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Lincoln and Reagan. They both were excellent communicators, but also vision setters. We must have a common positive vision for America that bridges our political divides. We must move away from identity politics and remember our common American identity.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Theme is Freedom - M. Stanton Evans.
