Dan Hass is a judge of the Menominee County Probate Court in Michigan.

Hass ran for re-election for judge of the Menominee County Probate Court in Michigan. He won in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Hass was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder (R) on September 3, 2015, to replace Judge William A. Hupy. He ran for election in 2016 in order to serve out the remainder of Hupy's term.[1]

Hass received a bachelor's degree from Ferris State College and a J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was the prosecuting attorney in Menominee County from 1988 to 2015.[1]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[2] Incumbent Dan Hass ran unopposed in the Menominee County Probate Court general election.[3]

Judges of the Michigan Probate Courts are each elected to six-year terms.[4] The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.
