Dan Lamont is a former acting justice of the Albany County Supreme Court in the 3rd Judicial District of New York and a former judge of the New York Court of Claims. He was appointed to both positions in 1996 and was reappointed in 2004. He retired from the bench on December 31, 2012.[1][2]

Education

Lamont received his A.B. from Hamilton College in 1964 and his J.D. from the Albany Law School in 1967.[1]

Career

Lamont began his career in 1967 as an New York Assistant Attorney General. He worked in that position until 1968. From 1971 to 1978, he was a partner of the law firm of Bellcourt & Lamont. He also served as an Assistant Schoharie County Attorney from 1972 to 1975 and a Cobleskill Town Attorney from 1975 to 1978. He served as a judge of the County, Family and Surrogate's courts of Schoharie County from 1979 to 1995. He then took office as a judge of the Court of Claims and an Acting Supreme Court Justice of Albany County in 1996.[1]
