I am a single father of three children in our public schools today. I served in the Army as a Green Beret Officer; today I am a medical device sales manager. I am a graduate of CU Boulder and went to public schools for elementary, middle, and high school.
  • All of our children deserve an education that is at the peak of academic excellence, focusing on literacy, math, science, and history.
  • Teachers are professionals that should be well compensated and enabled with the skills to serve our children.
  • Parents deserve to have choices in, and control over, the schools that serve their children.
I am passionate about preparing our children for their futures. Parents and our education system set the stage for the rest of our children's lives. Children must be given an environment to learn in that is safe and focused on academic excellence.
- Appoints the Commissioner of Education and the Director of State Board Relations

- Makes rules, regulations, and policies that govern the Colorado Department of Education, public education including pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, adult education, and public libraries
- Accredits public school districts
- Regulates educator licensing

- Exercises judicial authority with regard to appeals by charter schools
Elected officials must treat their office as a responsibility and service to their community.
Someone elected to this office must ensure that all of our children are given an education that prepares them to succeed after graduation.
A Miracle of Rare Design - I found this book tucked away on a shelf at my local bookstore in 7th grade. I read it by the light of a campfire and flashlight in a day as I couldn't put it down. The sense of adventure and immersion in other cultures caught my attention.
Setting the standards that our school districts should achieve is one of the most important functions of the Board of Education.
The role of the Board of Education in providing overall leadership of, and establishing clear standards for, the education system is something that every Coloradan should be aware of.
No. As a single father of three children, I see the importance of the decisions that Board of Education makes every day in the faces and schoolwork of my kids. Having regular parents with kids still in our public schools on the Board of Education is far more important than having someone that treats public office as a career or hobby.
I have been making decisions of consequence my entire adult life as a parent and a soldier. I have proven throughout my career that I am able to evaluate relevant information and make the right choices. As a regular parent, and not a career politician, I am free from the influence of special interest groups.
