“Nurse” Dan Sullivan is the Republican nominee for the Ninth Congressional District of Massachusetts in the United States Congress, which encompasses the South Shore, South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands.

Massachusetts is the birthplace of our country. Our beginnings are built upon the labors, sacrifices, and sufferings of people for the cause of liberty and freedom.

The promise of liberty and freedom, peace and prosperity, health and happiness, and the genuine opportunity to pursue the American Dream that has defined our state and country are at risk. Our leaders are failing us. They are playing us for fools.

I’m disturbed about the current state of affairs. I’m perturbed by the career politicians who care more about themselves than us. I’m tired of the elitists and entitled class who game the system at the expense of us. I’m troubled by the existential threat of our state’s increasing unaffordability and growing political monopoly.

Massachusetts is the least affordable state to live in the United States. The state collects the 5th most taxes per person in the country. The annual income needed to afford a median-priced home in Metro Boston was $194,188—a 40% increase in the past 3 ½ years. The median sales price for a single-family home is $950,000. Massachusetts has the highest cost of living—requiring an average household income of nearly $302,000 to live comfortably.

Massachusetts has experienced a 1,100% increase in the exodus of young wage earner

Campaign website

Sullivan’s campaign website stated the following:

Issues

ADDICTION & PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE

Drug addiction, especially prescription drug abuse, is a uniquely American crisis affecting all demographics and regions. The U.S., with less than 5% of the world's population, consumes over 80% of the world's opioids and 99% of its hydrocodone.

Addiction is the top epidemic in our country. Bristol and Barnstable counties in our district have the highest overdose rates in Massachusetts.

As a medical-surgical nurse, Dan sees the devastating impact of substance abuse on addicts, their families, and communities.

He advocates for a common-sense approach: prosecuting drug dealers and traffickers for crimes against humanity while providing addicts and their families with interdiction, intervention, and treatment programs.

BORDER CONTROL/SECURITY & IMMIGRATION

A nation-state requires population, territory, government, and sovereignty. Borders define territory, and without enforcing these borders, a country loses its sovereignty.

Illegal migration across our southern border is a national emergency and a humanitarian and public health crisis. Over 95% of the fentanyl in the U.S. comes from China via Mexico, causing widespread suffering and death.

Nurse Dan advocates for a common-sense approach to illegal migration and trafficking. He supports securing borders, enforcing immigration laws, and prioritizing legal immigrants with STEM skills.

Nurse Dan also supports prosecuting drug, human, and sex traffickers for crimes against humanity.

CHARITABLE FOUNDATION REFORM

Over the past decade, the number of tax-exempt charities in the U.S. has nearly doubled, often serving as tax shelters that enrich their creators. While many are legitimate, some act as personal piggy banks and slush funds.

Nurse Dan believes the 87,000 IRS agents hired under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act should ensure these charities fulfill their missions rather than scrutinizing ordinary taxpayers. His main concerns are the sources and spending of their funds.

This is especially troubling since many tax-exempt charities receive taxpayer-funded government money. Nurse Dan argues that such charities should be labeled as Taxpayer-Funded Tax-Exempt Charities, with stricter disclosure requirements.

Charities are vital to America, but as a taxpayer, voter, and Congressional candidate, Nurse Dan insists they should primarily rely on voluntary donations rather than government funds.

ECONOMY & JOBS

Historic inflation, particularly with soaring gas and food prices, caused by Joe Biden and the Democrats' reckless spending, bailouts, and handouts, is draining the earnings and savings of the working and middle classes and seniors.

Rising interest rates, declining stock markets, and shrinking retirement savings signal an imminent recession.

Dan supports ending bailouts and handouts to stop inflation, advocating for spending in line with the GDP, not excessive money printing.

He criticizes funding bankrupt cities, underfunded pension funds, Big Government, Big Pharma, Big Tech, and bogus nonprofits promoting wokeism and cancel culture.

Dan also supports affordable home ownership by providing tax incentives for owner-occupied homes, especially for first-time buyers, and tax disincentives for private equity, venture capital, and foreign takeovers of residential markets.

EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Education is a basic human right. Dan believes in the rights of parents and guardians to quality education for their children.

Dan supports common-sense back-to-the-basics primary and secondary education teaching the 3 R’s (Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic) and STEAM studies - science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT, FISHING & MARINE

Nurse Dan supports the conservation and preservation of natural resources—land, water, and air. Disrupting nature in the name of clean energy or climate change is not environmentally friendly.

He advocates for energy independence to reduce fuel prices by using clean coal, natural gas, next-gen nuclear power, and renewable energies. While supporting eco-friendly projects and reasonable carbon emission reductions, Dan criticizes Joe Biden and Progressives' decarbonization efforts as unattainable and harmful to the economy.

Nurse Dan believes projects like Vineyard Wind and Mayflower Wind may not be as eco-friendly as promoted by Joe Biden and Progressives.

FIRST RESPONDERS & PUBLIC SAFETY

Nurse Dan believes in the fundamental right of all citizens is to live and work in safe communities.

Supporting the Blue

Nurse Dan believes that reducing crime requires hiring more police, especially for local street patrols, which studies show significantly improves safety, contrary to Biden and the Progressives who want to defund and shrink police forces around the country.

Training

Nurse Dan believes that by investing in police training and creating incentives for top-tier training, ensures the best in public-safety outcomes.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS & NATIONAL SECURITY

The federal government’s primary duty is to protect the welfare and sovereignty of the American people, ensuring they govern themselves without deference to foreign entities or international bodies.

Dan believes in peace through strength, necessitating a robust national defense.

He opposes funding or engaging in unnecessary foreign wars and rejects warrantless invasions of Americans' privacy in the name of national security, domestic extremism, or public health.

GOVERNMENT REFORM

Dan supports terms limits and mandatory retirement ages for all members of the U.S. Congress. Dan supports a ban on insider stock trading and preferential bank loans for all members of Congress and their families.

Dan also supports a ban on the revolving door of bureaucrats and special interests at the CDC, NIH, FDA, IRS, SEC, and the Pentagon and a ban on 3rd party payments to government bureaucrats.

Dan also supports a ban on the politically-correct, cancel-culture social credit scoring scheme (ESG).

GUN SAFETY & GUN VIOLENCE

Dan supports the Second Amendment. Dan supports common-sense gun safety for lawful gun owners. Dan opposes the conflation of lawful gun ownership with gun violence. The majority of gun deaths are suicides which speaks to issues of mental health and substance abuse.

The majority of gun violence and mass shootings are related to gang violence which speaks to matters of law and order, cultural/societal decline, and recent criminal justice reform initiatives that amount to get-out-of-jail-free passes and no cash-bails that lead to surging crime waves/sprees.

HEALTHCARE & MEDICINE

Healthcare and medicine are basic human rights. Dan supports a common-sense blend of private and public (government) health insurance options. Dan believes in medical freedom and opposes one-size-fits-all healthcare and medical mandates. Dan believes that patients and their families in consultation with their healthcare providers should make individual medical choices.

Politicians and bureaucrats should not be making unilateral medical decisions for us.

JUDICIARY & CIVIL/HUMAN RIGHTS

Dan believes in the unalienable rights of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and the concepts of self-government and sovereignty. Dan believes that equal rights are human rights.

Dan believes in the primacy of the Bill of Rights, particularly individual liberty and states’ rights. Dan believes in the application of the law based on the rule of law, due process, equal protection under the law, and justice (truth) tempered with mercy.

Dan opposes court packing.

Dan supports the equality of opportunity as opposed to the equity of outcomes.

Dan opposes the erosion of individual liberties in the name of national security, domestic terrorism, or public health.

LABOR & MANUFACTURING

Dan believes in America First and Made-in America, Buy in America. Dan believes in free and fair competitive trade. As a dues-paying labor union member, Dan supports American labor and American manufacturing.

Dan opposes outsourcing and selling out of jobs, incomes, and industries to China.

SENIORS

Dan supports 100% exemption of social security benefits from individual taxes. Dan also supports the elimination of Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) that penalize our seniors from independently managing their own retirement savings after the federal retirement age.

SMALL BUSINESSES

Dan believes that the free enterprise system is the best means for Americans to achieve their hopes and dreams. The free market is the most efficient and least costly system to deliver the highest quality goods and services at the lowest price to the consumer.

Dan supports the free enterprise system through legislation to reduce or eliminate intrusive or obstructionist government regulation in the marketplace. Dan supports buy-small, buy-locally.

VETERANS & MILITARY FAMILIES

Dan believes in the preferential treatment of veterans and their families, particularly in matters of healthcare, addiction, mental health, and homelessness. Dan supports reservists and national guards receiving full VA benefits.

VOTING RIGHTS / FREE & FAIR ELECTIONS

Dan supports national Voter I.D. and a national federal election holiday to ensure election integrity and prevent election/voter fraud. Make it easy to vote but hard to cheat.[2]

Campaign website

Sullivan's campaign website stated the following:

ADDICTION & PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE

Drug addiction particularly prescription drug abuse is a uniquely American crisis that is not limited to demography or geography. The United States accounts for less than 5% of the world’s population yet consumes more than 80% of the world’s opioids and 99% of its hydrocodone.

Addiction is the #1 epidemic facing our country and our communities. Two counties in our district – Bristol, and Barnstable – have the highest per capita overdose rates in Massachusetts, respectively.

As a medical-surgical nurse in an acute care community hospital, Dan observes the devastation of substance abuse to addicts, their families, our communities and our country.

Dan supports a common-sense approach to the addiction epidemic by bringing the drug dealers and traffickers to justice for crimes against humanity while extending mercy to the addicts and their families with interdiction, intervention, and treatment programs.

BORDER CONTROL/SECURITY & IMMIGRATION

The four basic elements of a country, or nation-state, are population, territory, government, and sovereignty. Territory is defined by borders. You cease to have a sovereign country when you cease to enforce and defend your territorial borders.

Illegal migration particularly across our southern border is a national emergency and a humanitarian and public health crisis. Over 95% of all the fentanyl that floods our communities and country comes from China via Mexico into the United States and ultimately into our neighborhoods, communities, and country causing pain and suffering, death and misery.

Dan supports a common-sense approach to illegal migration and drug/human/sex trafficking by securing our borders, enforcing established international immigration laws and enabling legal immigration with priority consideration to immigrants with applied science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills/talents. Dan supports prosecuting drug/human/sex traffickers for crimes against humanity.

ECONOMY & JOBS

Historic inflation particularly with soaring gas and food prices caused by Joe Biden and the Democrats' reckless spending (printing money), bailouts, and handouts are draining the earnings and savings of our working and middle classes and our seniors. Rising interest rates due to the historic inflation rate coupled with declining stock markets and shrinking retirement savings foreshadow imminent recession.

Dan supports a common-sense approach to stop the historic inflation by ending the liberal democrats’ bailouts and handouts. Spending should be commensurate with our country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and not by Joe Biden and the democrats recklessly printing paper money and pumping it into the pockets of bankrupt liberal big cities, over-extended/under-funded government pension funds, Big Government, Big Pharma, Big Tech, and a myriad of bogus non-profits/not-for-profits that peddle wokeism, political correctness, and cancel-culture.

Dan supports affordable home ownership by providing tax incentives to owner-occupied residential homes particularly first-time buyers and tax disincentives to private equity and corporate-owned residences.

Nurse Dan's Position on Education and Vocational Training

The purpose of education is to replace a narrow mind with an open mind. The focus of education should be academics and not activism, instruction and not indoctrination, ideas and not ideology, and free thought and not dogma. Dan believes education should teach our youth HOW to think, and not WHAT to think. Dan opposes the teaching of critical CRT, DEI, intersectionalism, and transgenderism to our students, particularly our pre-pubescent and elementary education children.

Dan supports parental choice to create competition among the schools. Dan opposes teachers’ unions and school districts that compromise the education of our children or advance a political agenda at the expense of our children’s growth and development. Dan supports school choice and school vouchers for our students and their parents or guardians who want to choose learning and instruction over ideology and indoctrination. Dan also supports charter and magnet schools, home-school co-ops and vocational learning.

Dan supports more affordable public higher education by reducing the bloated payrolls, pensions, and perks of overpaid, underworked administrators and bureaucrats at public colleges and universities that inflate the costs to our students and their families. In Massachusetts, 96 out of the 100 highest-paid state employees work at UMASS.

Dan supports chargebacks or claw-backs for the costs of student loan forgiveness to the colleges and universities that received the government-backed student loan monies but short-circuited the career paths and short-changed the earning capacities of their students and graduates.

Dan supports 100% deduction of principal and interest repayments of government-backed student loans from individual taxes.

Dan supports publicly-funded vocational education and training for low-income residents, the underemployed and unemployed to transition them off taxpayer-funded public assistance into gainful employment in vital fields such as healthcare (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) and the skilled trades.

ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT, FISHING & MARINE

Dan supports the conservation, preservation, and reservation (CPR) of mother nature and our natural resources—land, water, and air. Disrupting and destroying our nature in the name of clean energy or climate change is not environmentally friendly.

Dan supports a common-sense approach to stop soaring fuel/gas prices by creating energy independence by leveraging the synergies of clean coal, natural gas, next-gen nuclear power, and renewable/green energies.

Dan supports eco-friendly renewable/green energy projects. Vineyard Wind does not appear to be eco-friendly which Dan opposes.

Nurse Dan's Position on the Vineyard Wind Offshore Windmill Farm

Dan opposes the construction of Vineyard Wind I to be located just 15 miles off the southern shores of Martha’s Vineyard includes up to 84 wind turbines that would disrupt and destroy our fisheries, marine habitat and wildlife. The 804-megawatt electrical cables would run through Craigsville (Covell’s) Beach in Barnstable disturbing a naturally beautiful and popular vacation spot.

Vineyard Wind is to be built by a Spanish-Danish conglomerate. Joe Biden claims the project will create up to 3,600 jobs over its lifetime and generate affordable electricity to up to 400,000 households. These projections are a pipedream.

The supply chain for wind farms and the manufacturing associated with them are located in Spain and Denmark. The majority of the higher-paid jobs will remain in Spain and Denmark. The revenues and profits will go to Spain and Denmark. And, neither Vineyard Wind nor the Biden government has quoted the actual costs of the electricity per household to the consumers.

Sea salt will corrode the wind turbines which require chlorine, epichlorohydrin epoxy, and hydraulic lubricants, among other chemicals, to run the wind turbines, all of which can be toxic, hazardous, or harmful to nature and humans.

Although chlorine itself usually does not cause environmental harm, it combines rapidly to form chemicals such as dioxins that pollute water, contaminate fish and transfer to humans and larger animals that eat the fish. This process is known as biomagnification, in which levels of accumulated substances concentrate in animals as they move up the food chain. In humans, chlorine gas exposure can irritate the lungs and cause respiratory disorders, as well as burning eyes and skin. When chlorine forms other compounds, it can also be damaging. Dioxins can change hormone levels by mimicking natural substances such as estrogen. They can also pose a risk of cancer, suppress immune systems, harm fetuses, and cause skin diseases. Organisms living in soil may also be affected by doses of chlorine. Epichlorohydrin is a probable or likely carcinogen to humans.

The most important functions of hydraulics in wind turbines include pitch adjustment, yaw and rotor braking, cooling & lubrication, and power transfer. For wind turbines, it is necessary to control the rotation of blades that weigh tons. At high wind speed, the blades will rotate faster and damage the turbine.

Wind turbines require fossil fuels. Each wind turbine needs 80 gallons of oil as a lubricant. It takes 12,000 gallons of crude oil to make 80 gallons of oil. That oil needs to be changed once a year. Powering the 84 wind turbines will require 1,008,000 gallons of crude oil to synthesize 6,720 gallons of lubricants annually.

In addition, the large equipment needed to build these wind farms run on petroleum, as well as the equipment required for installation, service, maintenance, and eventual dismantling and disposal.

The lifespan of a modern, top-quality, highly efficient wind turbine is 20 years. They cannot economically be reused, refurbished, reduced, repurposed, or recycled.

Each wind turbine has 3 blades. Each blade of the wind turbine stretches more than 350 feet. Vineyard Wind will use up to 252 blades. They will end up in landfills (wind turbine graveyards). Worldwide, they're already running out of these special landfill spaces for the blades that have already exceeded their usefulness.

Wind farms, especially big ones like Vineyard Wind, generate turbulence that can significantly alter air temperatures near the ground and ocean currents. Since wind affects ocean currents and ocean currents affect marine life and habitats, Vineyard Wind could disrupt or destroy our fishing and lobstering indelibly.

In addition, an estimated 500,000 birds are killed each year from a wind turbine blade collision; most of which are endangered hawks, falcons, owls, geese, ducks, and eagles. Disrupting or destroying nature in the name of climate change is not eco-friendly or common-sensical.

FIRST RESPONDERS & PUBLIC SAFETY

Dan supports first responders serving on the frontlines of public safety.

Dan backs the Blue and supports the qualified immunity doctrine except in cognizable instances of the plainly incompetent or those who knowingly violate established law.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS & NATIONAL SECURITY
