Dan Thomas was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Thomas earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 2000. His career experience includes working as a local evening news anchor. Thomas has been affiliated with Rotary International.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Dan was a well-known and successful television News Anchor who lost his job to the vaccine mandate. He's in this campaign to fight against Federal Government overreach, not just with the mandates but in any number of areas where our current leadership has failed us. Dan strongly wants to get rid of politicians who secretly profit from the corrupt system they told us they were going to fix.

Dan knows the meaning of hard work. He grew up working a small family-owned appliance store, delivering, selling and repairing washers, dryers and refrigerators. Dan put himself through college by starting a coin-op washer and dryer business.

Dan is a Christian, Father and Husband. He's been married to his wife for 19 years and they have two children. They are members of First Baptist Church, Sherman.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• We have to clean the house. No more corrupt politicians who profit off the system we sent them there to fix!
• We must protect our constitutional values. No red flag laws that rob us of our Second Amendment rights.
• We must restore education to reflect our exceptional American values. No Critical Race Theory.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I'm most interested in defending the constitution. We need to return to the vision our founders had of the role of the Federal Government. We must fight to protect free speech and religious liberty. The protection of our liberties starts with preserving the second amendment. The right to bear arms is essential to protecting all other rights.
We need to restore the right of the individual to make their own decisions for themselves and their families.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

The guiding force in my life is Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of who to follow and look up to. I make time every morning before the day gets started or anyone else gets up in the house, to read the word of God and learn as much as I can about the life of Christ.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

The most important characteristic an elected official can have is honesty. We need people who will tell us the truth about who they are and why they want to hold office. Their principles must center around respect for individual liberty. We need principled people who realize that government isn't the solution to our problems. People need to be freed from the grip the government places on our unalienable rights.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I have the tenacity, energy and drive to stick to my principles while doing the job. I can bridge the gap to the next generation of Republican voters, something our party desperately needs. Communication is key to winning over the hearts and minds of voters, especially those new to Texas. We face a rapidly groing population. I'm the candidate who can uniquely appeal to a wide range of voters while maintaining our conservative values.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The first big event I remember was the election of Ronald Regan. I was about 4 years old and remember seeing his face on television. I remember how he spoke about the United States with such hope and admiration.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job at age 13 was doing maintenance at a truck stop on I-35. I mowed a 3-acre lot with a push mower, cleaned the bathrooms, mopped the floors and eventually was entrusted to run the cash register. I had that job on weekends for about a year.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

I think it's preferable for representatives to NOT have previous experience in government or politics. Too often, the voters send an experienced politician to Washington who talks a great game on the campaign trail. Then, they get to Washington and fail to deliver. Too often, we find out that these "experienced" politicians are profiting off the very system they claim they were going to fix. ENOUGH. We need good, honest people who did NOT live their entire lives hoping to "get elected". We have too many people who have spent their entire lives raking in taxpayer cash, hopping from one elected position to another and profiting off some of the very agencies they oversee.

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

We must regain our national sense of direction and pride.

By the end of this decade, America will be the world’s 3rd largest economy. Behind China and India whose populations dwarf own.

If our nation is to lead the world, we must unite to stand up to Chinese and Russian military, technological and economic aggression led by Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. We MUST educate this generation to complete on the world’s economic stage. We must set aside our differences. There is too much at stake to allow ourselves to devolve into tribalism and play into the hands of our adversaries. Putin’s divide and conquer strategy is working. I am determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that my children and yours have more opportunities to realize their dreams and aspirations. I am not in this race to line my pockets with taxpayer money.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

Yes, representatives need to be held immediately accountable by the people they represent.
