Danavan Hylton was a 2015 candidate for District 2 of the Nashville Metro Council in Tennessee. The general election took place on August 6, 2015.

Biography

Hylton graduated from Henry J. Kaiser High School (Fontana, California) in 2004. Since January 2010 he has served as the president of Hoshana Management Group, a consulting practice that provides marketing and development strategies to small businesses in low-income communities. His professional experience also includes the following:

  • 2010-2012: Director of admissions, National College of Business & Technology (Madison, Tenn.)
  • 2007-2008: VP of sponsorship – Los Angeles Push, American Basketball Association (Los Angeles, Calif.)
  • 2007-2008: Admissions representative, American Sports University (San Bernardino, Calif.)
  • 2006-2007: Men's varsity basketball coach, Henry J. Kaiser High School (Fontana, Calif.)
  • 2005-2006: Co-founder, club director and coach, High Rise Basketball Club (Inland Empire, Calif.)[1]

The city of Nashville, Tennessee, held nonpartisan elections for mayor and metro council on August 6, 2015. A runoff election took place on September 10, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was May 21, 2015. All 41 metro council seats—including the office of vice mayor—were up for election. In District 2, candidates included Laura Fortier, DeCosta Hastings, Danavan Hylton, Carrie Searcy and Robert "Bobby" Stockard. Hastings and Stockard advanced to the runoff election.[3] Hastings defeated Stockard in the runoff election.[4] Incumbent Frank Harrison was term-limited. He ran for election to an at-large seat.[5]
