Yearwood ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 47. Yearwood ran and lost against incumbent Frank Ginn in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Tim Riley ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
