Campaign themes
2014
On his campaign website, Buda highlighted the following issues:[1]
Transportation
- Excerpt: "Austin needs solutions to our traffic congestion. Transit, roads, bicycles, and sidewalks all need to be pieces of the answer. And all need to work together to improve Austinites’ mobility, improve access, and reduce our transportation costs."
Affordability
- Excerpt: "Austin will continue to grow, but what it looks like in the future depends on how we respond to that growth. While recognizing the need to address a growing population and increased demands on our already-struggling infrastructure, we need to protect our neighborhoods, manage growth responsibly, and take steps to control all costs which are making Austin unaffordable for so many."
Public safety
- Excerpt: "Amidst a drought, we face aging fire stations, understaffing at the 9-1-1 center, and paramedics challenged with navigating gridlock. It's imperative that we provide all our city's public safety personnel with the equipment, training, and support of management to save lives and property."
