  • Excerpt: "It is past time for the State to increase the funding to the local governments and to the schools without attaching strings as to how to spend the money. Local citizens should be allowed to determine how to spend the money. They should be able to choose whether to hire another policeman or firefighter or to fix streets. Local schools should be allowed to decide whether to hire another teacher or spend the money for other necessary items."

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 5, 2014. John Babik was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Dorothy Pelanda defeated Daniel Fogt in the Republican primary. Pelanda defeated Babik in the general election.[2]
