Daniel Kalenak
Daniel "Eric" Kalenak was a judge on the Eleventh District Court of Appeals in Texas. He was appointed to this position by Governor Rick Perry on July 1, 2011, and officially took office on July 21, 2011. He resigned on September 3, 2012.[1][2][3][4][5]
Education
Kalenak received an undergraduate degree in finance at Texas Tech University in 1986 and a J.D. from Texas Tech University Law School in 1989.[1]
Military service
Kalenak was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a judge advocate.[6]
Career
From 1989 from 1990 Kalenak was a briefing attorney for Justice Jerry Woodard at the Texas Eighth District Court of Appeals. He also served as assistant district attorney for Texas District 34, which includes El Paso, Hudspeth and Culberson counties (1990-1992). Judge Kalenak served as assistant district attorney for Midland County beginning in 1994. He became appellate chief in 1999, and in 2011, he became first assistant. He worked in private practice for a year in 1994.[1]

2012 election
Kalenak lost his bid for re-election to the Eleventh Court in the May 29, 2012, Republican primary. Kalenak was defeated by attorney Mike Willson. Willson was later appointed to the court when Kalenak resigned.[5][6]
