Daniel L. Kennedy is the Chief Judge on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He was elected to this position in 2020 after being retained on the court, officially taking office in January 2021 following the retirement of Richard C. Schoenstedt.[1]

Prior to becoming chief judge, Kennedy was a judge on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court Second Subcircuit in Illinois. He was elected on November 4, 2014, for a term that expired on December 6, 2020.[2]

Kennedy ran for election to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court Second Subcircuit.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on March 18, 2014, receiving 28.4 percent of the vote. He competed against David Garcia, Moira K. Dunn, Dawn Underhill, James Murphy, Tina Filipiak and Stewart C. Ferreira.
General: He defeated Dinah Lennon Archambeault in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 55.6 percent of the vote. [2][3][4] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Daniel L. Kennedy as Recommended for election in a 2014 poll.[5]

Education

Kennedy graduated from Joliet West high School. He went on to earn a B.A. from St Thomas University and his J.D. from Creighton University.[6]

Career

Kennedy was the sole proprietor of the law firm he helped build with his father.[6]
