Donahue ran for election to the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 2.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Marion R. Warren, Chuck Winfree, John Marsh Tyson, Elizabeth Davenport Scott, Tricia Shields, Jody Newsome, Marty Martin, Hunter Murphy, Keischa Lovelace, Ann Kirby, Abraham P. Jones, Sabra Jean Faires, J. Brad Donovan, Lori G. Christian, Jeffrey M. Cook, Betsy Bunting, John S. Arrowood and Valerie Johnson Zachary.

Donahue received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his J.D. from the Charlotte School of Law.[2]
Career
Donahue is an attorney in private practice, maintaining his own firm. He began his career at the firm Hornthal Riley Ellis and Maland.[3]
