Daniel Patrick O'Brien is a judge for the 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County, Michigan. He was elected to this position on November 5, 2002, and took office the following January 1st. He was re-elected in 2010 and 2016.[1][2][3]

Education

O'Brien holds a B.S. from the University of Detroit Business School and a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law (1994).[2]

Career

O'Brien began his career as a law clerk for the Royal Oak District Court and then the Oakland Circuit Court from 1992 to 1996. He also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Oakland County in 1995 and 1996. From 1998 until his judicial election in 2002, he worked as an assistant municipal and city attorney for various municipalities in Oakland County and as a private practice attorney.[2][3]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[4] Incumbent Rae Lee Chabot, incumbent Hala Jarbou, incumbent Cheryl Matthews, and incumbent Daniel Patrick O'Brien were unopposed in the 6th Circuit general election (4 open seats).[1]

O'Brien was re-elected (along with 4 other judges) in the general election on November 2, 2010. He received 20.45 percent of the vote.[5]
