Roberts ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent California's 2nd District. He and Jared Huffman (D) advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, defeating Andy Caffrey (D), William Courtney (D), Larry Fritzlan (D), Stacey Lawson (D), Tiffany Renee (D), Norman Solomon (D), Mike Halliwell (R), Susan Adams (D), Brooke Clarke (Ind), and John Lewallen (Ind). They faced off in the general election on November 6, 2012, and Huffman won.[1][3][4]
