I have been a social worker for over two decades. I currently manage the southwest Washington office for Community Health Plan of Washington, a health care local non-profit. I have worked on the front lines of building strong communities, been accountable for public funds, and worked in a variety of senior leadership capacities in private and public sectors.

Over the past 20+ years, I have proven that I understand what it takes to build coalitions that work together to solve big problems. I have developed innovative new programs for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to live independently and as full members of their communities, created community-based services and implemented cutting edge social service programs. I have been a leader in Southwest Washington's efforts to implement a vast number of necessary changes to the health care system to ensure that access to integrated healthcare is not just for some - but for everyone. I received my BA in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio and his Masters in Social Work from Portland State University. I live in Vancouver with my wonderful wife Bethany Rivard where we raise our two amazing daughters.

  • Affordable, accessible access to healthcare, including mental health and substance use disorder services, for all communities and reopening our economy safely.
  • Empowering students and teachers, and giving them the resources they need to thrive.
  • Building strong communities, good paying middle class jobs and infrastructure to support the diverse population of the region.
As a Social Worker, I have spent much of my career focusing on the mental health crisis in our communities and reforming how primary care, mental health and substance use disorder treatment is provided. I am a leader in Southwest Washington's efforts to implement necessary changes to the health care system to ensure that access to healthcare is not just for some-but for everyone. I also have deep insight into our homelessness crisis and the needed solutions to work upstream to prevent homelessness while creating more affordable housing and support services.
