Daniel Washburn is a judge for the Pinal County Superior Court, Division I, in Arizona. He was elected to the bench in 2010.[1] He was retained on November 4, 2014, for a term that expired on January 6, 2019.[2]

Washburn was retained to the Pinal County Superior Court with 71.0 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [2] 

Evaluation

The Judicial Performance Review Commission provides Arizona voters with an evaluation of each judge up for retention. The commission votes on whether a candidate meets or does not meet the JPR standards. Each judge is assessed on their legal ability, integrity, communication skills, judicial temperament and administrative performance.[3]

The commission voted that Washburn met the JPR standards. The vote was 27-1 in favor of retention.[2]

2010

Washburn defeated Delana Fuller in the general election, winning 52.4 percent of the vote.[1]

Education

Washburn earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Arizona State University. After graduating from law school, he earned a LL.M. in taxation from the University of Missouri School of Law.[4]

Career

In 2001 Washburn began working for a law firm in Mesa. In 2005 he established the Washburn Law Firm PLC. In addition to his law practice, Washburn served as an instructor of continuing legal education courses for other lawyers and a teacher at Mesa Community College. In 2008 and 2009, he was appointed to serve as a judge pro tem in the Maricopa County Justice Courts.[4][5] In 2010 he was elected to the Pinal County Superior Court.[1]
