Daniel Wise was a 2016 special election candidate for District 106 of the Mississippi House of Representatives.
Elections
2016
A special election for the position of Mississippi House of Representatives District 106 was called for November 8. A runoff election was held on November 29. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was October 10.[1]
The seat was vacant following Herb Frierson's (R) resignation on June 30, 2016. He resigned after he was appointed as commissioner of revenue.[2]
John Glen Corley, Larry D. Davis, Greg Holcomb, Ben Winston, and Daniel Wise faced off in the special election. Since no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters, Corley and Holcomb, met in a runoff election, which Corley won.[3][4]Candidates in Mississippi special elections run without party labels.[5]
