  • Equal access to justice and the legal system
  • Adherence to the US and Ohio Constitutions and the rule of law
  • Transparency and accountability
Danielle is passionate about ensuring equal and fair access to the legal system for all citizens.
It's critically important for elected officials to remember who they serve: the community and its citizens. Particularly for the judiciary, that means upholding the Constitution and the rule of law without bias or favor.
I have been endorsed by the AFL-CIO, the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers, the Cincinnati Women's Political Caucus, the Hamilton County Sheriff, the Equality Political Action Committee and the Hamilton County Democratic Party.
I recently met a voter who shared her son's struggle with drug addiction. He spent years in and out of jails, prisons and rehab facilities, having been convicted of multiple drug possession charges and related offenses to feed his habit. As his mother, she wrestled with how best to help him, trying to find the balance between supporting him while not enabling his bad behavior. She mourned the loss of the son she raised and loved; and she lamented whether she would ever get her son back. With her help and guidance, he finally enrolled himself in an in-patient drug treatment program. It wasn't an easy road for either of them, but he finally completed the program. He engaged in more counseling upon his release. He still does counseling today. And he stayed sober and clean. That was six years ago. As we were talking, her son unexpectedly came over to visit her. She introduced us; and the pride in and love for her son was evident on her face.

This voter's story is not unique. The criminal justice system is filled with stories of individuals and their families who have been ripped apart by drugs. Not all families get the opportunity to reunite and move forward like this woman and her son. But it emphasizes the need for evidence-based substance abuse treatment in our criminal justice system - to improve the lives of defendants, their families and the community.
