I am a lifelong Minnesotan, a licensed attorney, a stay-at-home mom, and a volunteer. My education as well as my personal and professional experience have all led me to seek this position so that I can put my values into practice for the city of Bloomington. I believe that city government exists to improve the quality of life for all residents, and if elected, this belief is what would guide my decisions. We should always strive to make choices that do the most good for the most people.
  • One Bloomington for everybody. That means that resources are distributed so all residents can enjoy them, from young families to seniors. Everyone should benefit from our community investments.
  • Safe, affordable housing for all. That means that everyone deserves safe, affordable housing and that includes things like keeping seniors in their homes so they can live the dignified lives they deserve. It also means investing in public safety so that naturally occurring affordable housing remains safe and supported.
  • Responsible Investment of community resources. That means that we are careful and deliberate with our money, time, and natural resources, and that we listen to our residents when making decisions that will impact us now and in the future.
I am passionate about affordability, sustainability, and responsible investment of community resources. We need to make sure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing in a safe climate, that we are addressing the cost of living for all residents, and that we are responsible and equitable when investing public dollars.
Empathy, respect, and willingness to learn. In order to be a leader, a person needs to be able to put the needs of the group ahead of their ego. Effective leadership happens because of collaboration and communication and these skills are invaluable for an elected official.
The core responsibilities for someone elected to City Council At-Large are to listen to residents and improve their quality of life. City government should make choices that do the most good for the most people.
I hope to leave the world a better place than I found it, and that when people think of me they will think of helping those around them to have a happy, healthy life.
While I recall some historical events as a very young child, the first historical event that I was really aware of was 9/11. I was in tenth grade, and our second period history teacher turned on the news. He was stunned into silence and was hardly able to explain to us all what was happening. Having to shepherd a class of 30 teenagers through the news of that terrible event could not have been easy.
