Campaign themes

2015

Walsh highlighted the following issues on her campaign website:

As a mother of 3 children in the Middletown School District, a taxpaying community member and a proponent of common sense and practicality in the education of our children, I am asking for your support in my bid to become a member of the Middletown Board of Education.

Both my husband and I were raised in Middletown and are now raising our three children here. Our 11 year old twins attend Thorne Middle School and our son attends Harmony Elementary School.

I believe strongly in volunteerism and active parenting. I have been a class mom for many years, basketball coach, PTO member and assist in running our All Volunteer Library at Harmony School.

Before deciding to run for BOE myself, I have been committed to educating myself on the intricacies of how our Board of Education works and what we as citizens of Middletown can do to make positive changes by serving on The Ad Hoc Budget Committee, the PIC Committee as well as all aspects of the Strategic Planning Committee for Middletown. I attend Board Meetings regularly and have familiarized myself with the ever-changing needs and challenges we face as both parents and taxpayers of Middletown.

I have seen our community first hand come together and create positive change for both its students and its citizens. If given the opportunity, I would strive to be the kind of BOE member who listens to and aides community members with their concerns, while promising to always keep an open mind and remember that flexibility and personal attention and compassion should come with all decisions, without forgetting that every dollar that we are taxed matters to the lives of our citizens.[7]
