Campaign themes
2016
Montgomery's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Jobs and the Economy As your State Senator, I will fight for economic incentives that benefit rural North Carolina and the working class. I firmly believe that improving public education will improve the overall economy. Our current educational system does our children a disadvantage, and has left many of our communities behind. We need to provide more, and better, vocational classes at our community colleges to equip our citizens with the tools they need to start their own businesses and contribute to the local economy. Strengthening Education Either Raleigh does not understand the needs of our classrooms, or they do not care. When I become your next State Senator, that will change. I know what our teachers and students need, and I won't stop until they get it. Medicaid Expansion Any strategy that can alleviate our poverty crisis is a strategy worth trying. Expanding Medicaid is working in every state where it has been passed, so we know it works. As your state Senator, I will fight for Medicaid expansion from day one. This is not a political question, but a question of fight or flight for the people of North Carolina.[1] |
