Candidate Connection

Danny Campbell participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on February 27, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Danny Campbell's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Decreasing federal government involvement in daily lives of citizens.

2) National security through increased border protections and changing foreign policy stance in regards to our involvement overseas.
3) Be the voice that the states, and thus the people, have the power when powers are not specified for the national government.[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Foreign policy, more specifically, decreasing US entanglements in foreign nations’ affairs.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Danny Campbell answered the following:

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

In the realm of public office, I look up to Ron Paul, former Congressman for the 36th district of Texas. He has led and continues to lead the liberty movement, which I wholeheartedly support.[4]
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
F.A. Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” and Ron Paul’s “Liberty Defined”.[4]
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Integrity, Trust, Transparency, and Work ethic.[4]
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am here to represent the common man because that is exactly what I am. I’m an outsider with no agenda except to represent the people, uphold the Constitution, and be accountable to the people. I have faithfully served the people of this nation in a difficult position before as an Infantry Platoon Leader in Iraq. Everyday I had to make difficult decisions, and I will be able to do the same as the representative for the 5th. People who know me know that I always choose the hard right over the easy wrong. Integrity is the backbone of a person, and my most important attribute.[4]
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Uphold the Constitution and represent the people’s will within the district.[4]
What legacy would you like to leave?
To be known as a man who loved his God, his family, and his country, in that order. That when called to serve I did not back down but took action.[4]
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Yes.[4]
What are your thoughts on term limits?
Yes, three terms for representatives and two terms for senators.[4]
