Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm Danny, and I'm a third generation Parkland resident. I’m running because I’m worried. I’m not comfortably retired with a pension, or some other nicely guaranteed future. My son is only nine months old. My family has just started. My son is going to grow up and go to school here. The success of my family is directly tied to the success of district 6 and the success of your own family, and I think that’s really important. It’s one thing to want to do the right thing, but it’s another to have something to lose if you fail.
  • Communication. Over the past several months and most recently doorbelling, I ask people who their representative is, and 99% of them have absolutely no idea. Nor do they know what district they live in. If you fall into that category, absolutely do not feel guilty because it is 100% not your fault. What that tells me is that the vast majority of us are not being reached out to, and also that life hasn’t gotten any easier and most of our time and energy is devoted to just getting by. I will change this and make sure decisions are made with you and not for you.
  • When you are homeless, you’re adrift in a sea of uncertainty and fear, at the mercy of a society for which the ultimate crime is being poor. When you are adrift, you need an anchor, and that anchor is housing. That’s why I’m a believer in the zero barrier housing model. If you take a homeless person and put them into a house, they are by definition no longer homeless. I’m a big believer in zero barrier housing. Get people into a house. It doesn’t matter if they’re still on drugs or mentally ill. Get them into a home and go from there when it comes to providing services and help. Even if you’re a cold-hearted capitalist, building homes or renovating property and putting people into them saves money. The right thing to do must be profitable.
  • Getting arrested or having a police encounter should be an act of service. That is how the officers see it, and we need to change our model of support to embody that ideal. If you commit a crime, you must suffer the consequences, but getting arrested should also be the first step in getting your life back on track, especially for young people. We need more rehab and intervention programs. We need resource officers in schools and money into sports and other school programs. The key point is that all kids must be supported by positive role models so that, when they make those early mistakes that we all make, that they have people that point them back in the right direction. For kids that come from poverty, it's a community responsibility
Homelessness, policing, affordable housing, public information, art programs.
My dad. He has accomplished a lot. Also, George Washington.
I am scared that 1984 is coming true. Our privacy should be sacred. WHAT IS POWER by Byung-Chul Han. "Apocalypse Now" on the absurdity and destructiveness of war.
Above all, an elected official must realize that they are a public servant. No matter their party view, their duty is to carry out the will of the citizens and act in their best interests- nothing more. As to principles, an elected official must display leadership, honesty, and humility.
To carry out the will of the citizens of Pierce County district 6 and make sure they are fully informed.
I want to make a lasting difference for the better in peoples' lives.
Operation JUST CAUSE in Panama because I was living right in the middle of it. I was 7.
Making in-flight meals for pilots at Howard AFB, Panama in 1997. I was 15. I think I got paid $4/hr.
1984. I have read it 20 times. The more I read it, the funnier it gets. The fact that fiction is now becoming fact makes it all the more absurd.
I always feel like I am not doing enough, or that there is something better I could be doing. I sometimes have a difficult time relaxing.
I was about to type it in, but I think it's too dirty.
I'm the new guy on the block, so nobody owns me.
I believe in 100% financial transparency and that private, for-profit lobbying should be illegal.
